Kenko Polarizing Filter

    polarizing filter
  • A common filter that removes reflections from water, glass and other surfaces, it also increases colour saturation.

  • A photographic or optical filter that polarizes the light passing through it, used chiefly for reducing reflections and improving contrast. Two polarizing filters are often used together, such that rotation of one of them results in a neutral density filter of variable density

  • The polarizing filter used with most modern cameras is a circular polarizer. The first stage of the polarizer is a linear filter which filters out light that is linearly polarized in a specific direction.

  • (polarizing filters) Used on camera lenses to selectively remove excess light.

    kenko
  • is a Japanese manufacturer and trading company of photographic accessories, especially known for its filters. Located in Tokyo, they have been producing conversion lenses since the 1960s. They produce camera lenses under the Tokina brand name.

  • (Locust) minor thug of the Locust Clan.

RainbowImaging 77mm Pro 1D PRO1-D Slim CPL Circular Polarizer filter (Multi-Coated)

Multi-coated Filters are so important to Digital Cameras. Digital camera CCD or CMOS sensors are highly susceptible to reflections - this stray light can ruin your photographs! Don't risk your valuable photos by using bare-glass filters. This PRO1-D CPL Circular PL filter is used to increase colour saturation, darken blue skies so white clouds stand out. and eliminate reflections from non-metallic surfaces like glass or water. It will also reduce the softness in scenery caused by atmospheric haze.

17-10-2010: NEVER SEEN BEFORE!
Here is what create the economic Kenko polarizing filter (or so marked).
Can an 82 mm circular polarizer filter, brand new, cost only $ 26.99 (= 20 EURO)?
Yes, because I paid so little, but I have to accept a ... slight effect on the detail of the images!

I think it would be better to call it: Uncontrollable Defocus Gosting Warm Polarizer.

Test comparison made with Contax Vario-Sonnar 35-135 mm lens (@135 mm) and adapter ring on Canon 5DII.
Focused at f/4 aperture on the antennas, at about 50 meters from the camera.
I got the same result with the Canon 24-105 mm, especially at longer focal lengths and with a Nikon 105 mm f/2 D on Sony NEX5 camera.

I do not know if this Kenko circular Polarizer filter, buyed from an ebayer in Hong Kong, is a genuine Kenko High Quality, made in Japan, or is a clone but, except the nice warm effect, everything blurs, creating double images.
The focus control of the lens can not do anything against his power!

18-10-2010: This filter marked as "Kenko" as other low cost glasses is obviously a Chinese vile crap, pseudo clone of good brands!

There's Always A Mountain To Climb

There's Always A Mountain To Climb

I came across this spot while on my drive back to Wisconsin from California just east of where Hwy 50 meets I-70 in southwestern Utah. This particular area is called the Black Coal Bluffs.
I could only see a part of this area while I was driving (the peak at the top left of the frame) and was intrigued to see what more this area had to offer. I pulled off the highway, parked the car and began walking. After about 35 minutes of walking and 20 minutes of climbing I found myself on a ridge (roughly 200 - 300 feet high) looking over this landscape.
I was so startled as to what I was looking at I had to sit back for a few minutes and absorb the whole scene. The wind was lightly blowing and the sun felt great. It was just the dog and I.. all alone in the freshest air I had breathed in months.
